Linda Sue McCain Stansell, of Paris, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Kindred Hospital Dallas Central. 

She was born on Aug. 26, 1938, in Clarksville, Texas to James Calvin and Eva Mae Stroud McCain. 

She married James Russell “Jimmy” Stansell on Nov. 15, 1958, in Mt. Pleasant.

She was a real estate agent/broker in Mt. Pleasant and Rowlett for several years before retiring and moving to Paris to be near family.

Linda’s passion for family history earned her membership in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She held several positions with the Titus County Genealogy and Historical Society. While president, she was instrumental in saving historical county courthouse records and the oldest building in Mount Pleasant from destruction.

Survivors include daughters, Melissa Stansell Richards and husband, Dru Richards, of Paris, Texas and Laura Stansell Lewis and husband, Daniel Lewis, of Paris, Texas; one sister, Martha Riner and husband, Emmett, of Naples, Texas; granddaughter, Ariel Lewis Thacker and husband, Michael, of Snyder, Texas; grandson, Willem Lewis, of Paris, Texas; and two great-grandsons.

Preceded in death are her husband, Jimmy Stansell; her parents; and niece, Terri Riner Coutoumanos.

A private memorial service for friends and family will be scheduled at a later date when she is laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery, Pittsburg, Texas. 

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
