A weekend of arrests by the Paris Police Department included the arrest of a Deport man on multiple charges, including two for drugs.
Police said they arrested James Heath Elrod II on Saturday for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon after they stopped the vehicle he was in for an expired license plate.
Police said the stop took place at 2:56 p.m. In the process of investigating, officers said they found suspected drug paraphernalia, marijuana and methamphetamine in the car Elrod was driving.
James was taken to the Lamar County Jail. Online records this morning showed he was released Sunday on bonds totaling $6,500.
Paris police also reported the Friday arrest of Roberto Salvador, 31. Police said they were called to the 1600 block of Maple Avenue at 1:32 p.m. Friday for a disturbance involving two intoxicated men fighting. Police said they were told one of the men stabbed the other with a metal file.
Salvador was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken into custody and transferred to the Lamar County Jail. There were no online jail records of Salvador this morning.
Also arrested Friday was 41-year-old Zachary Taylor Roth of Paris. Police said the 11:45 a.m. Friday arrest came on a warrant charging Roth with theft over $750 but less than $2,500. This warrant stemmed from a Wednesday investigation in which Roth reportedly stole a trailer, according to reports.
Roth also was wanted on a warrant charging him with theft of property over $2,500 but less than $30k for an incident in which police believed Roth had traded the trailer for a vehicle. Roth was taken to the Lamar County Jail, where online records this morning show he was released with bonds totaling $10,000.
