Gertrude Elizabeth Crawford Hammett, 98, of Blossom, died at 10:20 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Spring Lake Assisted Living Center.  

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019, in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Burgie Thompson and the Rev. Mike Shupp officiating. Burial will follow in Knights of Honor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Gertrude was born on Oct. 22, 1920, in Deport, Texas, to William Henry and Lillie Mae Land Smith.  

She married Reginal Dee Crawford on Dec. 9, 1939, and he died on July 9, 1987.  Mrs. Hammett then married Andrew Cayce Hammett on Oct. 24, 1992, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2013.  

She was a homemaker and oldest living member of First Baptist Church in Blossom.

Survivors include her two children, Gary Crawford and wife, Sharon and Linda Mowery and husband, Frank, all of Paris; five grandchildren, Sheri Starkey, of Fort Worth, Sheila Lobert and husband, Tom, of San Antonio, Darren Mowery and wife, Stephanie, of Lavon, Kevin Mowery, of Hallsville, and Katie Swafford and husband, Jack, of Allen; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Starkey, Tommy Lobert, Matthew Mowery, Erin Mowery and Meili Mowery; and three sisters-in-law, Winnie Steele, Joyce Crawford, Bonnie Crawford; one brother-in-law, Johnny Crawford and wife, Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Clara Gable, Bessie Garrett, Edith Crawford, Troy Smith, Elmer Smith, Claude Smith and Melvin Smith; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond Crawford, Earl Crawford, Sam Crawford, Ethel Jackson, Clarence Crawford, Arthur B. Crawford, Lee Mahan, Marvin Crawford, Joe Crawford, Iris Crawford, Muriel Crawford, Lois Crawford, Marshall Crawford and Frank Crawford.
