Roy N. Buster, of the Caviness Community, passed away on June 17, 2019, at his residence.  Services will be held on Friday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at Roden-Pryor Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Pastor Duane Hamil will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Roy was born on May 31, 1953, in Killeen, Texas, to Kikue Mori Buster and J.E. “Gene” Buster and had lived in the Caviness Community among friends and family most of his life.  

He attended Central  School until his senior year when it consolidated with North Lamar. He was proud to be among the class that received the last senior ring from Central. One of his best school memories was participating in the Houston Livestock Show.

Roy was a farmer, rancher and welding contractor. He was always a country boy and loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, his land and cattle, and the San Luis Valley and mountains of Colorado where he spent as much time as possible. In his younger days he was a bull rider and rode in the CRA Finals in Ft. Worth, one year before he hung up his spurs. He attended the Cowboy Church in the Camp and served for many years on the Board of Directors of Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

Roy was preceded in death by his precious son Will; his parents and grandparents; his father-in-law, W.P. Slagle; and several, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  

He is survived by his wife, Carol, whom he married on May 31, 1978; his brother Russell; mother-In-law, Loy Slagle; sisters-in-law, Becky Dockray (Gary Flippen) and Jerie Gomer; and brothers-in-law Jeff and Larry Slagle. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and their families, Jeb Buster and Mori and McGregor Button, Becca and Scotty Mahan and Brody, Lily and Beau, Lela and Carl Wild, Brandon and Devanny Slagle, Jesse and Beth Nelson, Jennnifer and Pat McCloskey, Ash Gomer, Harleigh and Hunter Roach and River Slagle. Other survivors include, aunts and uncles, Helen Hickman, Janice and Roy Winford and Linda Reynolds and Bob Seale, his family in Japan; and many other family members and friends, including special friends Mike Head, Nick Pollard, Tim Norris and Rodney Beshirs. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Head, Cody Head, Tim Norris, Kevin Norris, Rodney Beshirs, Caleb Beshirs, Nick Pollard and David Taylor.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association, PO Box 13, Sumner, TX, 75486, or to the charity of your choice.
