UPDATE, 11 a.m.: The story is updated with information from the Lamar County Sheriff's Office.

The Lamar County Sheriff's Office was called out to a gunshot death in the 600 block of Farm to Market Road 1506, according to Justice of the Peace James Mazy.

Mazy confirmed that Penny Siddle, 51, died Saturday evening from a single gunshot wound. Mazy was called to the scene a little before 10 p.m. to pronounce the death.

In a press release Sunday, Lamar County Sheriff's Office confirmed the deputies responded to the address at 7:20 p.m. Saturday for a reported shooting, and they found the victim had been shot and was deceased.

The release states deputies found Claude Edward Siddle Jr., who is a family member believed to have shot the victim outside the residence. Siddle was taken into custody to the Lamar County Jail. Bond has been set at $200,000, according to the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Detectives and Texas Ranger Stacy McNeal are investigating the reported homicide.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family. This investigation is ongoing and will be updated when available," the sheriff's office release states.
