Searching The Paris News

The Paris News offers simple keyword searching of the most recent 30 days of stories. A more extensive archive is in development. The Paris News does not offer personal research services. Our web edition does not contain the full content of The Paris News print edition, nor do we offer personal research services.

Basic Search

Enter one or more terms (see form above) and start your search. The form is not case-sensitive. By default, stories that contain all of your search terms will be returned. Refining your search is as easy as adding more words to the query.

Advanced Search

For greater control over the search, enter search terms in the appropriate fields on the advanced search page. Use any combination of query fields on this form to find the stories you need. For example:

  • To search for stories containing both "beach" and "bird" in the text, enter "beach bird" in the "All the words" field.

  • To find all stories containing "Spirit" or "Opportunity" in the text, enter "spirit opportunity" in the "Any of the words" field.

  • Use the "Exact phrase" field to search for an exact phrase such as "Mardi gras" in the text.

  • To narrow your results by excluding stories that match a specific word, use the "Without the words" field. For example, to find stories that contain "beach" and "bird" but not "party", enter "beach bird" in the "All the words" field, and enter "party" in the "Without the words" field.

    What's available

The Paris News archive contains the full text of most locally written articles published during the past 30 days. Anything prior to that, and you'll need an old-fashioned newspaper. Printed copies of past The Paris News articles are hard to come by after a year or two. With rare exception, all our back issues are recycled within two years of publication.

To obtain a recent back issue of our print edition, we invite you to contact our circulation department at (903) 785-8744. You also can order recent editions on the web at:

    http://theparisnews.com/circulation.lasso

For older editions, you may need to contact a clipping service, or perhaps one of Paris's public libraries could assist you with their microfilm archives.
