The Detroit Eagles fell in a close contest at Maud, 35-28.

Although eliminated from playoff contention, the home team Cardinals notched their first win of the season finishing strong to beat Detroit (3-6, 2-3) despite trailing 22-7 at the half.

Muad outscored Detroit 12-0 in the third to pull within three points, and turned it on in the fourth for the win.

Dawson Waggoner led the way for Detroit with 10 carries for 82 yards and 52 passing yards and a score, while Joel Hinson finished with 21 carries for 78 yards. Miles Davis chipped in with 25 passing yards and a score, while Cole Hinson and Hunter Crutchfield each caught a pass for 13 and 24 yards, respectively.

Cody McCoin and each of the Hinsons recorded 10 tackles apiece, while Claude Scales stood out with 15 tackles and a sack to lead the defense.

Detroit will play at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant High School against Cumby in the bi-district round.
