ATHENS — After a perfect opening to the bi-district round game for the Detroit Eagles, the Area round game got off to an unfortunate start. After losing an onside kick attempt, Grapeland capitalized on the first play of the game for a 48-yard touchdown en route to a 60-0 win over Detroit.

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Detroit Eagles couldn’t have asked for a better start to Thursday night’s bi-district game with the Cumby Trojans. Detroit jumped out to a 24–0 lead after the first quarter and then were able to hold on late for a 50–42 victory.

Two highly-ranked Red River Valley teams, both the Class 3A, No. 8-ranked Prairiland Lady Patriots and the Class 2A, No. 9-ranked Rivercrest Lady Rebels emerged victorious over their respective opponents in straight sets on Tuesday.

The Paris Lady Wildcats volleyball team started district play off on the right foot as the team convincingly swept Pittsburg 25-14, 25-12 and 25-14.

In a critical district home game, the Detroit Lady Eagles volleyball team came out on top over the visiting Maud Lady Cardinals in four sets 25-15, 18-25, 25-19 and 25-21.

Despite trailing the entire first half against the Detroit Eagles at home, the Rivercrest Rebels basketball team found a way to get past their district rivals. Thanks to their excellent fourth-quarter defense and timely offense, the Rebels were able to pull out a 55-46 win.
