Prairiland senior basketball player Baylor Sessums has been selected in an online public poll as the Paris Regional Medical Center Red River Valley Athlete of the Week.

The North Lamar Panthers basketball team scored just three points in the first quarter and 10 by halftime, trailing visiting Rains 24-10 at the break.

The No. 18-ranked Paris Wildcats hosted the Class 5A Mount Pleasant Tigers in the ’Cats’ home opener. The packed house was treated to a strong display of fast-paced and high quality basketball by both teams on Tuesday night.

The Paris Lady Wildcats basketball team hosted the Prairiland Lady Patriots in a high-quality non district matchup. The game was close throughout with neither team holding more than an eight-point lead, and the teams needed four extra minutes to decide the winner.

The No. 17-ranked Paris Wildcats basketball team fell on the road in a close contest to Class 5A, No. 5-ranked Sulphur Springs by a final score of 67-61.

According to new classification cutoff rules with UIL, the Paris Wildcats and North Lamar Panthers will be realigned in two different football districts for the first time in decades, which was confirmed by both schools.

After surrendering the first three points of the game to North Lamar, the Prairiland Lady Pats took over the game en route to a 43-38 win Tuesday night at North Lamar. Trailing 3-0 early in the first quarter, the Lady Pats scored eight in a row to take over the game. Prairiland never looked back.

PITTSBURG — Clarksville Lady Tigers’ new head coach LaTisha Hearne’s debut was short of a victory as the Lady Tigers fell to Class 4A Pittsburg 68-53 in road action on Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers (0-1) competed in their first game with only seven players in uniform. 

The Chisum Lady Mustangs hosted the Rivercrest Lady Rebels on the hardwood Tuesday night in an intriguing non-district matchup between two solid girls basketball teams of the Red River Valley.

The 2019 Red River Valley volleyball season was memorable to say the least. Our community’s teams sent seven volleyball teams into the postseason, and four of those teams advanced past the first round of playoffs.
