James William Rowell
James William Rowell, 84, of Paris died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, in Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family receives friends from 4 until 5 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Oil City, La., a son of William and Edith Story Rowell. He married Geneva Istre in Oil City on Sept. 18, 1947. He served his country during World War II and the Korean War in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was employed by the Department of Human Resources for 30 years and was director of field staff in Paris. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; and a sister, Frances Ragus.
Survivors include two children, Raymond Rowell and wife, Shari, of San Antonio, Darlene Escaloni and husband, Larry, of Lexington, Ky.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, James Escaloni, Kevin Escaloni, David Escaloni, Clifford Rowell, Steven Rowell and Amanda Rowell.
