Mary Frances Franklin

DEPORT — Mary Frances Franklin, 99, passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Cunningham.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at First Presbyterian Church of Deport. Burial follows in Highland Cemetery. Wood Funeral Homes have charge of arrangements.

The family receives friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time Sunday, at the church.

She was born in Rugby Sept. 19, 1909, to John Douglas and Emma Grant Wood. She married Murray D. Franklin Nov. 16, 1935. He preceded her in death, July 31, 1967. She graduated from Paris School of Nursing in 1963. She worked for many years as an LVN for the Deport Nursing Home, retiring when she was in her late 70s.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma J. Rheingans on March 16, 1996; brothers, Paul Wood in October 1996, Lawrence Wood in September 2005, and Carl Wood in February 2007; sister, Elise Alsobrook on Feb. 19, 1984; sisters-in- law, Ruby Wood, and Zelma Wood; and brother-in-law, Wayne Alsobrook.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deloris A. and Canard Norwood of Cunningham; grandchildren, John Rheingans and wife, Judy, of Garland, Cindy Butcher and husband, Allen, of Dallas, Ricky Norwood and wife, Pam, and Teresa Smith and husband, James, all of Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Hail Sharrock and husband, Jordan, Mattie Norwood, Kelti Mowery, Seth Smith, Kristin Hunt and Charlie Hunt; four great-great-grandchildren, Addison Sharrock, Shanna Nolan, Joshua Hunt, Trey Edmond; and one sister-in-law, Martha Kate Wood of Rugby.
