Brentwood Terrace Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center opened the doors Thursday and Friday in invitation for local physicians and the public to tour the newest health care facility in Paris. The center is located at 2885 Stillhouse Road.
The new facility was recently completed, and patients moved into their new home two weeks ago.
“The residents are acclimating very well in their new home,” said Karen Johnson, Diversicare regional vice president of Texas. She said the whole move has gone well for both patients and staff.
“It’s an amazing team. These people care very much for the residents. It’s been a very gratifying experience,” she said.
The 59,600-square foot facility is a $7 million investment for the company, which purchased Parkview Care Center in August 2007.
Jim Pethis, administrator for Brentwood Terrace, said, “This (Diversicare) is a very forward thinking company. I look forward to providing the best service we can. I’m sure the town is excited about the new facility.”
Pethis and his wife, Lori, arrived in town Monday from Albuquerque, N.M. He has been affiliated with health care for more than 30 years. Their two sons attend the University of Texas at Arlington and this was an opportunity for him and his wife to move closer to family.
The 119-bed facility is divided into three areas — long-term care, a Lighthouse unit which houses residents with Alzheimer’s Disease, and a Life Steps unit for those who need short-term rehabilitation assistance such as after knee surgery or hip replacement.
The facility is much larger than the old building. As the center’s population grows, Brentwood Terrace will continue to build the staff of care givers to meet the needs of the additional residents.
“We still have additional openings for CNAs, and there are lots of opportunities now and in the future,” Johnson said.
