Bob J. Wilkins
HONEY GROVE — Bob J. Wilkins, 70, of Pecan Gap passed away Friday, July 3, 2009.
Church services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Selfs Church of Christ in the Selfs community north of Honey Grove with Jeff Edwards officiating. Interment follows at Restland Cemetery in Roxton.
The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Selfs Church of Christ.
He was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Selfs to parents Wilburn W. Wilkins and Virgie Lee Dobbs Wilkins. He married Patsy L. Anderson Dec. 23, 1961, in Roxton.
He served his country with the Texas National Guard and was mobilized during the Bay of Pigs call-up. He retired as a computer engineer from Texas Instruments after 30 years of service working at locations in Lubbock and Richardson. At age 62, he attained a Masters degree in computer engineering from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and has been an associate professor of the department of applied sciences for the past five years. He had also taught at Paris Junior College. He was a faithful member of Selfs Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving family, wife, Patsy Wilkins of the home; daughters, Sharon Wilkins Cagle and husband, Arnold, of Denison, Melissa Wilkins Stafford and husband, Bill, of Plano; granddaughter, Jessica Leigh Cagle Follis and husband, Roger, and their daughter, Kori Beth; grandson, Bryce Cagle and wife, Tina, and their sons, Landon and Zach; cousins, Larry and Nancy Dobbs, Fran Dobbs, Harold and Carolyn Wilkins, and Donald Lewis Wilkins and wife, Linda.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Anderson, Bill Stafford, Roger Follis, Mark Newhouse, Jimmy Newhouse and Kenneth Jones.
Honorary bearers will be Larry Dobbs, Harold Wilkins and Donald Lewis Wilkins.
