Dodge dealers raise money for school bands

Published September 19, 2009

The Hometown Scholarship Program, presented by local Dodge Dealers, including James Hodge Motors, along with North Lamar and Paris High School Bands, have launched the 2009 charity fundraising campaign that generates scholarship funds for high school band students.

The Hometown Scholarship Program is part of James Hodge Motors continuing commitment to the hometown community.

This Fall, Paris and North Lamar High School Band members will attend community events to request $5 suggested donations in support of their Hometown Scholarship Program. With each $5 suggested donation, 100 percent of the proceeds go to scholarship and leadership development programs.

Individuals who donate to the program may register to win a 2010 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 1500 truck and automatically receive a voucher to redeem a complimentary T-shirt at James Hodge Motors. Upon arrival at James Hodge Motors, donors may additionally register to win a $10,000 scholarship.

“We encourage parents, families, neighbors and friends of North Lamar and Paris High School bands to support this program by providing a suggested $5 donation at local events such as Paris and North Lamar High School football games and other events throughout our community,” said Tom Sanders, a member of the North Lamar Band Boosters. “This innovative program creates scholarship money for our band members to further their education, attend various programs and educational activities and enhances the development of future leaders.”

Now celebrating its seventh year, the Hometown Scholarship Program has raised more than $4.8 million for various high school organizations throughout the country. In 2009, the Hometown Scholarship Program hopes to raise more than $1.5 million nationally.
