Sit back and enjoy Pavlo onstage Tuesday

Published November 7, 2008

Heralding its 56th season, Paris Entertainment Series presents Pavlo, a “dynamic composer, guitarist and singer who has created a unique style best described as Mediterranean music.”

Paris has the opportunity to experience Pavlo’s Mediterranean-flavor melodies Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Paris High School auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Pavlo said he wants his audience to “sit back and enjoy the music. A little two-hour escape to the Mediterranean in the middle of Paris, Texas.”

Two additional performances of Paris Entertain-ment Series include Jade Simmons on stage Friday, Jan. 23, and Pianafiddle on Monday, March 30.

In the biography provided for Pavlo, the musician says, “My mission in life is to bring my music to as many people as I can, while I’m here, on this Earth.”

Although he has not played in Paris, France yet, Pavlo says he is, “looking forward to performing in Paris, Texas. I am looking forward to seeing the red cowboy hat.”

Pavlo is a Greek-Canadian who began playing the guitar at 10 years old, and composed his first song at 13. Pavlo’s performances are influenced by a variety of genres, but his unique approach is described as Mediterranean.

“I have been influenced by a lot of music, namely Flamenco, Latin, European and Jazz, Blues and much more,” Pavlo said. “That’s why I call my music ‘Mediterranean Music.’ It’s a combination of all of the above.”

A few of his most memorable venues include playing in a downtown residence in Munich, Germany, at the jazz festival in Montreal, Canada, where he played to 25,000 people, in a 700-year-old theatre in Manchester, England, and, he said, “soon to be Paris, Texas.”

Pavlo has two gold albums (Fantasia and Pavlo), was nominated for a Juno award in 2000, was on the Billboard Top 10 in May 2005 and has sold a half million records. He also was chosen as World Artist of the Year in 2005 and nominated for Smooth Jazz Guitarist of the Year in 2007. The artist has produced seven albums.

Pavlo takes his unique music to more than 150 venues a year, and Paris is one of his stops on a current 80-city tour.

Paris Entertainment Series offers memberships to all three shows. The non-profit organization is staffed by volunteers who work to bring world-class entertainment to Paris each year. Memberships are available at various levels with adults at $45 and reserved seating at $65. There are also family, single parent family and student memberships offered.
