Mary K. Glaspie

COOPER — Mary K. Glaspie, 88, of Cooper passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel with David Graem officiating.

She was born June 16, 1921, in Yowell. She was the daughter of Dudley Ralph Scott and Mary Louise Fielding Scott. She was retired from Delta National Bank of Cooper, born and raised in the Disciples of Christ Church, devoted to the happiness of her husband, Peyton, family and most especially her grandchildren. She loved people, reading, flowers, working in her yard, politics and fondly, loudly, frequently proclaimed herself a “Yellow Dog Democrat.”

She married Willie Peyton Glaspie on Sept. 8, 1942, in Montgomery, Ala. and he preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sara Beth Scott Wilson and a brother, William Dudley Scott.

Survivors include her son, Peyton Scott Glaspie of Cooper; daughter in law, Nancy Lou Burkhart Glaspie of Cooper; grandchildren, Rebecca Fafavi and husband, Omen, of Pleasant View, Tenn. and Travis Glaspie of Saint Louis, Mo.; sister in law, Emily Scott of Lindale; nephew, Ray Scott and wife, Dixie, of Mineola.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Delta County Public Library, 300 W. Dallas Ave., Cooper, TX. 75432.
