October building permits top $1.6M

Building permits by the City of Paris fell short of the $6.7 million issued in September, but the 41 permits issued in October reached a respectable $1.6 million.
Three new commercial permits at a total of $995,000, were issued to Kroger Food Stores, Coplin Square and Xavier Clinic.
Kroger Food Stores will begin construction within the next month on a three-island gas kiosk located in the parking lot at 1310 Clarksville St. The new construction permit is valued at $600,000.
The permit for Coplin Square, 3070 Lamar Ave., valued at $210,000, is for construction of a new building to house Armstrong-McCall, a wholesale beauty supply business currently located at 3048 Clarksville St. Owners Brandi and Cade Stone plan a showroom in the front, with an office and distribution facilities in the back. The project will take approximately six months to complete.
Xavier Clinic specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain management. The permit worth $185,000 is for new offices at 219 6th St. S.E. Construction is expected to be completed by April 2010.
One permit was issued for new residential construction, going to Paris Habitat for Humanity. The $50,000 permit is for 291 33rd St. N.W.
There were nine commercial repair permits in October. They were issued to Benny Brown for a business at 1304-1312 Lamar Ave. and 15-25 13th S.E. for $7,500, Wag A Bag at 1604 N. Main for $61,932, Paris Fire Department at 2009 Bonham St. for $25,000, First Methodist Church at 322 Lamar Ave. for $5,940, Paul K. Denney at 124 N. Main St. for $650, Cecelia Hagey at 24 Clarksville St. for $1,800, 24th Street Cafe at 220 S. Collegiate Drive for $1,000, Paris Texas Pecan Company at 1920 S. Church for $10,000.
Walmart at 3855 Lamar Ave. received a commercial repair permit worth $412,000, which is for a new cooler dedicated to beer and wine. The cooler will take up approximately half of an aisle.
Residential repair permits went to properties at the following locations: 354 W. Houston, 1730 N. Collegiate Drive, 317 6th St. S.E., 730 Martin Luther King Drive, 2317 Culbertson, 3440 Pine Bluff St., 529 Grand Ave., 1822 E. Polk St., 1145 34th St. S.E., 1750 E. Polk, 935 Medalist, 1400 W. Austin and 1160 Durango.
One demolition permit was issued for property at 907 E. Grove St.
Sign permits were issued to Verizon Wireless at 200 N.E. Loop, Howland Pecan Company at 2150 S. Church St., Paris Texas Pecan at 2348 Lamar Ave. and 1920 S. Church St., Trail de Paris at various locations, Adamson Financial at 3245 Lamar Ave., Oshay Boutique at 811 24th St. S.E., E.D. Financial at 865 39th St. S.E., Lamar County Chamber of Commerce for the Festival of Pumpkins at various locations, Jazzercise at 120 27th St. N.E. and Healthcare & Hospice at 750 Clarksville St.
