Ty Abston, president and CEO of Guaranty Bond Bank, announces the election of two senior officer positions for the corporate office in Mount Pleasant. Terry Todd has been elected senior vice president and chief risk officer and Jerome Uberu elected senior vice president and chief compliance officer.
Todd received a BBA degree in accounting from the University of Central Arkansas and a Masters from Arkansas State University. He is a certified public accountant and is also certified as an internal auditor, bank auditor and financial services auditor. He most recently served as auditor for a large regional bank and has other audit/risk management experience with multi-billion dollar asset financial institutions. Todd and his wife, Mary, have one son, Andrew. They attend Williams Methodist Church in Texarkana.
Uberu received a BA in banking and finance from Bishop College and an MBA in finance from Dallas Baptist University. He most recently headed the compliance division of a multi-billion asset bank holding company. He served as a commissioned bank examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for ten years and prior to that spent six years as a bank regulator with the Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner in Austin. Additionally, he holds a certified mortgage banker certification and received training through the Federal Financial Institution Examination Council (FFIEC). Uberu and his wife Harriet have three children, Cynthia, Jerome Jr., and Whitney.
“The addition of Terry and Jerome is designed to better position the bank for additional growth as a regional community bank,” Abston said. “Terry brings significant experience in the area of audit and risk management within larger financial institutions. Jerome brings to the bank a wealth of regulatory and compliance experience as a former compliance regulator with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The added experience and expertise of both will further strengthen the bank’s management team and prepare us for the future. We are excited to have the opportunity to add this talent to the Guaranty team.”
