Ben L. Faulkner
Ben L. Faulkner, 79, of Powderly died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Moore and Bro. Harley Stripland officiating. Entombment is to be in the Mausoleum at Meadowbook Gardens Cemetery.
The family receives friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born June 21, 1930, in Kellond, Okla., to George W. Faulkner and Viola McDonald Faulkner. He married Betty Hobbs July 7, 1951, and he was of the Baptist faith. He was a licensed plumber for many years and he also worked for several years for Gulf Oil Company. Prior to his retirement, he was a contracted worker for TP&L and Southwestern Bell. After retirement, he was able to do what he liked best, which was working with his horses and cattle. It was always obvious that he loved country western music and especially guitar music. His family said he also wrote songs. His dedication to excellence and achievement will serve as an inspiration for all those that were blessed enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, C.D, G.W., Preston, Kenneth and Harold Faulkner; and one sister, Doris Horton.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; one son, Bengy Lewis Faulkner and wife, Connie, of Powderly; one daughter, Barbara Jean Morris of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren, Angie Clark and husband, Shawn of Powderly, Jana Mobley, Dakota Faulkner, Zachary Morris, Dustin C. Morris and Jordan Morris, all of Powderly; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nora Belle Edgar and husband, Albert, of Ohio and Nadine Holman of Paris; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, that were special to him.
Casket bearers include Bobby Smallwood, Carl Jensen, Jim Berry, Mike Crews, Mike Kropp, Curley Kyle and Lonnie Morris.
Honorary casket bearers are A.D. Davidson, Don Moffit, Ralph Holmes, Albert Hyatt, Jackie Norris, Robert L. Garrett and Jerry Holmes.
