Health Dept. issues H1N1 vaccine

The Paris-Lamar County Health Department received 100 doses of H1N1 flu vaccine this week.

“There is no cost, but we are following state and federal recommendations on what groups are to be vaccinated first,” nurse Carol Hill said.

Those to receive the vaccine include the following:

•pregnant women;

•household contacts and caregivers of children younger than 6 months;

•healthcare and emergency medical services personnel;

•persons from 6 months to 24 years of age; and

•persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with a higher risk of

medical complications from influenza.

Immunization are given at the clinic, located at 740 6th Street S.W.,from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Hill said she does not know when the department will receive another shipment of the H1N1 vaccine.
