VFW hosts All-Star fundraiser

Entertainers from magic to music will perform in the Veterans of Foreign Wars All Star Variety Show Saturday, Nov. 21.
The event is to begin at 1 p.m. in North Lamar High School, and proceeds will be used sponsor the disabled, handicapped and underprivileged children and adults in Lamar County.
Tickets for the event are $5 each, and the funds raised will go to several VFW projects.
Entertainers include Chuck Lehr, a comedy magician; country music performer Charlie Bowman, Pari Black Belt Academy Karate for Kids and Clarksville’s Tyrell Duckett.
In addition, there will be several local surprise acts and a visit from Santa Claus.
There will be a drawing for bicycles after the show.
VFW Post 3990 continues to involved in several community projects to help the young and the elderly.
Some of the projects include Little League Baseball, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Junior Girls.
VFW members carry out weekly visits to nursing homes in Lamar and Red River counties, preparing refreshments and programs designed to enlighten, inform and entertain the elderly.
VFW members also prepare holiday food baskets for the needy, Christmas packages for the underprivileged children and donate phone cards to troops in the Persian Gulf so they can call their families and loved ones.
Funds also will be used to help needy veterans and their families.
