Adoption, shot clinic for pets Saturday

Published September 17, 2009

The Lamar County Humane Association is to sponsor a low cost shot clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the LCHA office, 310 Clement Road.

Dr. Wally Kraft serves as veterinarian at the clinic.

Also on Saturday, the LCHA has scheduled an adoption clinic from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Atwoods, near the intersection of North Main Street and Loop 286.

A confirmed case of rabies was discovered in a calf on a ranch between Chicota and Forest Chapel this past week.

Kraft said last week this is the second confirmed case he has seen this year.

Following notification of the infected calf, Kraft and LCHA made arrangements to set up the shot clinic on Saturday, one of several planned during the course of the year. Veterinarians recommend rabies vaccinations for household pets, particularly dogs and cats.
