’Tis the season for holiday activities

It is always a sign the holiday season is upon us.
There is always an abundance of something to do, somewhere to go and something to see.
So it is this weekend, with a plethora of things available to entertain and even to provide a shopping experience.
Kicking off the holiday season is the ever popular Tinsel and Tidings, a YWCA-sponsored event that will brighten the spirits and usher in that holiday feeling. It begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and runs through 4 p.m. in and around Love Civic Center with one of the largest selections ever of arts and crafts from near and far.
Along with Tinsel and Tidings, the annual Senior Citizens Bazaar, also sponsored by the YWCA, will take place in Love Civic Center. Thousands are expected to take part in the two events that become a shopper’s paradise.
For those who are hungry, the Pattonville Volunteer Fire Department can get them started in the right way. The VFD will serve breakfast at 10 a.m. Saturday, and it is all you can eat for $5 a plate.
A Pancake breakfast also will be served at the Delta County Civic Center from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Cooper.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars has scheduled its All Star Variety Show at 1 p.m. Saturday at North Lamar High School.
Entertainers include magician Chuck Lehr, Clarksville’s Tyrell Duckett and Paris Black Belt Karate for Kids.
Tickets are $5 and proceeds go to the VFW’s efforts to help the disabled, handicapped and underprivileged children.
For those who like history and a look at the past, Roxton’s City Drug Store Museum will be the scene of an open house from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday
In Hugo, Washington Community Center’s 17th annual banquet will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday in Kiamichi Technology Center.
If you still haven’t had enough entertainment for the weekend, the 20th annual Songs of the Season Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Paris. Paris Junior Chorale will be joined by choirs from Paris High School and North Lamar High School to present the favorite songs of Christmas. Tickets are $8 each with children under 5 free.
There will be plenty to entertain this weekend and beyond.
Don’t miss the highlights of the holiday season.
