Bobbie Evans Hiner
Bobbie Evans Hiner, 85, of Paris went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Paris Skilled Nursing Facility.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Fry-Gibbs Chapel with Rev. Tom Lane and Rev. Ken Cannon officiating. Interment follows at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris.
The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Greenville, to Bert L. and Nada McDonald Evans. She graduated from Paris High School in 1943. She met and fell in love with Lemond H. Hiner July 7, 1942 at First Baptist Church. They were married Feb. 9, 1943. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she was baptized April 10, 1938. She began teaching Sunday School in the junior department in 1946. In 1947, she began serving in the nursery where she worked for over 50 years. For several years, she served as nursery coordinator. In the early 1960s, she used her seamstress skills to start a dress business called Bobette Originals where she designed and made one-of-a-kind dresses for little girls. She was also a retired employee of Hollywood Vassarette, retiring after 17 years of service in 1982. After retirement, she and her husband, Lemond, had their own ceramic/woodcraft business called Ceramics ’N Things.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 46 years; her precious daughter, Virginia; and brothers, Donald and James Evans.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Hiner and Susan and husband, Doug Smith; one son, Lee H. Hiner; son-in-law, Don Hilliard; four grandchildren, Bradley and wife, Ashley Hilliard, Carol Kay and husband, Corey Gray, Bert and wife, Jennifer Smith, and Lacy and husband, Josh Ashford; great-grandchildren, Kylee and Rian Hilliard, Cadie and Chloe Gray, and Logyn and Morgyn Ashford; one sister-in-law, Pat and husband, Steve Dockery; several nieces and nephews; and many friends to cherish her memory.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley Hilliard, Bert Smith, Corey Gray and Josh Ashford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Quinton Hawkins, Norman Davis, Roy Welch, Glen Books, Jim Ray and J.B. Bankhead.
