Field-Gunn
Rebecca Ellen Field and Wesley Allen Gunn were united in marriage in a family wedding at six o’clock in the evening on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Church of the Holy Cross in Paris, Texas. The Rt. Rev. Sam B. Hulsey and the Rev. Betty Clement officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Shelley and Scott McDowell of Paris, Texas and Steve and Martha Field of Amarillo, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Clara Storey Nance of Paris and the late R.K. Storey and Norm and Evelyn Field of Sherman, Texas, and the late Anne Field.
The groom is the son of Charles and Debbie Hilburn Courtright of Meridianville, Alabama and the late Al Gunn of Lubbock, Texas. He is the grandson of Bill and Evangeline Hilburn of Palacios, Texas, Jack and Carolyn Kennedy of Marble Falls, Texas, Adel Gunn of Amarillo, and the late Barbara Kennedy of Meridianville, Alabama.
The wedding music was provided by Jennie Vaughn, organist. Readings were done by Cade Storey, cousin of the bride. The bride was escorted to the alter by her father, Steve Field. The bride was attended by maid of honor, Elizabeth Lankford, sister of the bride and matron of honor, Shelton Triplett, step sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Shawna Cope, childhood friend; April Coward, childhood friend; Brandi Fausett, childhood friend; and Lezlie Shield, college roommate.
The groom was attended by best man Tanner Touchstone, childhood friend; and groomsmen Matt Gunn, brother of the groom; Scott Kennedy, uncle of the groom; Tyler Gragson, childhood friend; Dru Dement, childhood friend, and Cody Hohenberger, childhood friend of the bride and the matchmaker.
Flower girls were Hannah Triplett and Liza Triplett, nieces of the bride and the ring bearers were Caden Wesley Gunn, son of the bride and groom and Layne Lankford nephew of the bride. Ushers were Mark McDowell, Billy Underwood, Ryan Russell and John Crabtree. House party members were Jackson Engel, Bailey Engel, Jenny Sawyer and Susan Sawyer.
The bride wore a beautiful side wrap, A-line Kathryn bridal gown with a sweetheart neckline and a laced corset back. The champagne bridal gown was made from matte duchess satin, which had delicate embroidery in gold metallic thread and hand-sewn crystals. Her attendants wore cotton sateen strapless dresses in deep chocolate. The bride and her attendants carried bouquets of tangerine roses and calla lilies. The flowers for the wedding were provided by Harvey Florist.
The groom wore an ivory single breasted Mirage tuxedo by Jean Yves with no front buttons. It had a satin mandarin collar, with satin front edge, slightly angled double satin besom pockets and closed vent with satin vest with matching tie in ivory. His groomsmen and ushers wore matching tuxedos with deep chocolate vests and ties.
Following the wedding a reception was held at The Depot where music and entertainment was provided by Wyatt Bowden of Fullblast Entertainment. In one end of The Depot the wedding guests were served a buffet of boiled shrimp, finger sandwiches, fried green beans, and a cascade of fruit, cheese, and crackers provided by Angela Crawford of Hole in the Wall. Drinks and cake were served in the bar area while toasts and dancing also took place. At the end of the evening guests lined the back steps of The Depot with sparklers as the bride and groom left the reception.
The bride and groom were honored with several parties prior to the wedding. Following the wedding rehearsal a dinner was served at 24th Street Café and was hosted by Debbie and Bob Courtright. During the evening the guests enjoyed viewing videos of the lives of Rebecca and Wes entitled “You Had Me at Hello”. The pictures and video were compiled by the mother of the groom, Debbie Courtright.
On the wedding day a bridesmaid’s luncheon and primping party was hosted by Carolyn Kennedy. The luncheon was catered by Paris Bakery and enjoyed by all in the home of the bride’s mother, Shelley McDowell. The girls had their hair done by Ashley Farmer and the bride had her make-up applied by Tiffany Pusateri.
A wine and cheese shower was held by Mary Kay Brown and Brandi Stone in the Brown home. The bride was honored by her bridesmaid’s with a weekend of tubing down the Comal River in New Braunfels, Texas. The groom was also honored by his groomsmen with a weekend at Lake Travis in Austin, Texas.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of North Lamar High School and a 2005 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She is currently employed as a Marketing Coordinator for Dell, INC. in Roundrock, Texas.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas. Following high school the groom served four years active duty in the United States Marine Corps. His service included two deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is also a 2008 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He is employed as a financial advisor by Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. Rebecca and Wes and their son Caden have made their home in Austin, Texas.
