Bessie Lee Vance
Bessie Lee Vance, 83, went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Providence Baptist Church, 4680 FR 195. Interment follows at Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation is to be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home, 730 Clarksville Street.
She was born June 30, 1926, in Lamesa to Charles Arthur and Lillie Cornelia Barron. She was the youngest of 10 children. She married the love of her life, James Eldon Vance, Nov. 25, 1943. She and Eldon moved to the V-Ranch in Paris with their four children in 1964. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this year.
She was a homemaker and longtime member of Providence Baptist Church. She is an example of what a Christian wife, mother and grandmother should be; loving, kind, supportive, thoughtful and generous. She is best known for her hospitality to her family, friends and everyone who needed love and support. God granted her the desire of her heart, to live a long life with Eldon on their V-Ranch in the Amherst Community, to be surrounded by family who love each other and to go to her eternal home where Jesus has prepared a special room for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; and her oldest child, Kim Vance.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon Vance of Paris; her sister, Mary Robinson of Paris; three children, Jan Johnson and husband, David, of Colleyville, Rick Vance and wife, Dianne, of Winnsboro; Melody Taylor and husband, Bob, of Powderly and Abbi Vance of Frisco; grandchildren, Jodi Newton and Vernon of Fort Worth, Jeff and Amy Johnson of Arlington, Ashley and David Templeton of Houston, Amy Vance of Rusk, Heather and Chris Burris of Rusk, Krissy Williams and husband, Stephen, of Florence, S.C., Brandon Taylor and wife, Kristen, of Saluda, Va.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made out to Providence Baptist Church Building Fund.
