Robert Joyner
WOLFE CITY – Robert R. “Bob” Joyner, 80, of Ladonia passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Dallas Center of Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the First United Methodist Church in Ladonia with burial following in the Ladonia Cemetery. He received full military honors at the graveside. R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Wolfe City to Leonard M. and Mary Lou Tarlton Joyner. He married Billie J. Duncan July 7, 1955, in Ladonia. He graduated from the Wolfe City public school system. Later, he owned Bob Joyner Insurance in Ladonia for over 50 years, served as Postmaster for the Ladonia Post Office for 35 years, retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Lt. Colonel, and was a member of the Ladonia Chamber of Commerce. He was also chairman of the Ladonia FUMC church council, President of Ladonia Cemetery Association and a 59-year member of Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Hella Temple Shrine and Scottish Rite of Dallas and American Legion Post 16 at Wolfe City.
He is survived by his wife of Ladonia; a daughter, Cynthia Denton and husband, Bob, of Dallas; four nephews; and four nieces.
