Graduates prepare for commencement

Amber Lynn Dillard is valedictorian and Charles Wesley Duke salutatorian of the 2009 Roxton High School graduating class.
Roxton High School graduation is set for 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, in the Fine Arts Building.
Other honor graduates are Stormie Cox, Shalonda Finney, Clay Humphries, Stephani Lipstraw, Zachary Martin, Skylar Nichols, Jacob Parham, Kaitlyn Pendleton, Myoshia Wesley and Crystal Williams.
Dillard, the daughter of Brad and Cindy Dillard of Roxton and the granddaughter of Jerry and Ruth Dillard and George and Betty Speights of Cumby, has a grade point average of 5.25 on a 6.0 point scale. She has been active in FFA, Beta Club, Spanish Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Choir. Dillard has served as a class officer for the past three years. She has been named a Who’s Who at RHS and has been a Regional UIL Qualifier.
Dillard plans to attend Paris Junior College and transfer to Texas A & M Commerce to pursue a degree in elementary education.
Duke, the son of JD and Crystal Duke of Roxton and grandson of John Harvey and Charlene Duke and Carl and Pat Orren, has a grade point average of 5.2 on a 6.0 point scale. He has been active in UIL, basketball, baseball, track and tennis for four years. He has also been an active member of the Beta Club and FFA.
Duke plans to attend Southeastern State University in Durant, Okla.
