Roxton girls knock off Yantis

ROXTON — Kemia Franklin and Jorden Mills combined to score 41 points for the Roxton Lady Lions on Tuesday, as they earned a 65-46 home victory over Yantis.

Franklin netted 24 points, gathered eight rebounds and had seven assists. Mills scored 17 and had six assists. Andie Duke chipped in with nine points.

Roxton outscored Yantis in each quarter and held a 28-19 lead at halftime.

From there, Roxton kept up its pace and held on for the win.

Bonham 53,

Prairiland 36 (G)

PATTONVILLE — The Bonham Lady Warriors raced to an early 14-point lead and never looked back, as they topped the Prairiland Lady Patriots, 53-36, on Tuesday.

Bonham led 19-5 after one quarter and kept the lead until the end of the contest.

Callie Tucker led Prairiland (3-2) in scoring with 11 points. Kelti Mowery scored eight points and brought down 10 rebounds. Payton Connot scored six points and Jenniffer Justice scored five.

Prairiland is scheduled to compete in its own James R. Morton Invitational Tournament on Thursday. The Prairiland B team will play DeKalb at 9 a.m. Thursday, while the Prairiland A team will play Yantis at noon Thursday.

• The Prairiland Patriots suffered a 64-46 setback against Howe on Tuesday.

Rivercrest 30 (G)

COOPER — The Cooper Bulldogettes trailed the Rivercrest Lady Rebels by two points and halftime, but they flipped that deficit at the end when they notched a 32-30 triumph over the Rivercrest squad.

Rivercrest led Cooper, 17-15, at halftime, but Cooper (4-5) evened the score at the end of the third quarter and ultimately edged the Lady Rebels at the end of the game.

Leigh Tatum and Mariah Williams scored nine points apiece for Cooper. Rose Sampson added five points.

Rivercrest was led in scoring by Haley Bivins, who netted 10 points.

• Cooper’s junior varsity team notched a 34-14 win over the Rivercrest junior varsity team.

Lanie Huie led Cooper with 10 points. Lainey Tatum scored six points, Shelby Wicks scored five points and Erin Dougan scored four.
