Rodger Hubert Louis
Rodger Hubert Louis, 72, of the Sylvan community died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Dubuis Hospital.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Topliff officiating. Burial follows in Sylvan Cemetery.
The family receives friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
He was the son of James Hubert and Viola Amanda Hamlin Louis, born Feb. 10, 1937, in Ladonia. He graduated from Ladonia High School where he played sports and later attended Southern Methodist University. He served in the U. S. Army reserves for four years. His career with the Dallas Fire Department spanned 33 years and 10 days, before his retirement in 1991. That year, he moved to Paris where he became active in the Blossom United Methodist Church where he was a lay speaker and sang in the choir. He enjoyed aviation, reading, traveling, and he had a love for people.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Todd Louis; a sister, Wanda Rogers; and a brother-in-law, Coy Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Blassingame Louis; children, Karl Louis and wife, Glenna, of Paris, Kathy Bennett and husband, Robert, of McKinney, Terry Louis of Pottsboro, Alan Louis and wife, Teresa, of Grand Prairie, Eddie Pinckard and wife, Stephanie, of Commerce and Terry Bryson of Paris; grandchildren, Caleb Louis, Rachel Louis, Brittany Louis, Jennifer Louis, Benjamin Louis, Jacob Louis, Jeremiah Louis, Todd Wells, Ryan Wells and wife, Jennifer, Leslie and Reagan Pinckard, Derek Bryson and Jennifer Bryson; nine great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Casket bearers will be Caleb Louis, Todd Wells, Jacob Louis, Derek Bryson, Ryan Wells and Eddie Pinckard.
Honorary bearers will be John Owens and Randle Clarkson.
