Joe Storey, Jr.

CLARKSVILLE – Joe Storey, Jr., 84, of Garland and formerly of the English community, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, in Garland.

Funeral services are scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Hudler and Wayne White officiating. Burial follows with police honors in English Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

The family receives friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Clarksville Funeral Home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1925, in Red River County to Joseph and Bennie Bryant Storey. He was a retired police officer for the Dallas Police Department, was a 50-year Mason and belonged to the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Long Creek Baptist Church in Sunnyvale.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Clark Storey; brother, Quillard Storey; and a grandson, Eric Jason Crain.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Jean Storey of Garland; daughters, Janey Cearley and husband, John, of Liberty Hill and Karen Kay Gordon and husband, Mack, of Garland; four step-grandchildren, Debbie Boatner, Sherrie Lee, Joni Anderson and Jana Kovar; sister, Wanda Varley of Clarksville; brothers, Ben Storey of the English community, Bob Storey of the English community and Wayne Storey of New Boston; grandchildren, Christi Feldmann, John Cearley, Jr. and Nathan Cearley.

Pallbearers are Val Varley, Brad Varley, Kevin Gray, Tony Bob Storey, Mark David Burkett, Ben Ray Storey, Keith Storey and Barry Storey.
