Clinton Edward Maddox
AUSTIN — Clinton Edward Maddox, 62, cherished husband, father and brother passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, in the Weed-Corley-Fish chapel. Interment is to follow at Austin Memorial Park.
The family is to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1947, in Oshkosh, Wis., while his father played professional basketball in the NBA.
He attended Paris High School and Paris Junior College. He joined the U.S Navy and served honorably from 1968 to 1972. In 1974, he married the love of his life, Patricia Schaefer, of Atlanta, Texas.
He loved hunting and outdoor activities and his earlier years in the ranching business in Paris, Texas. He enjoyed the Texas state parks and spent many summers vacationing there with his family. He particularly enjoyed the Texas Longhorns and watching his son Steven play in the University of Texas Longhorn Band for the last three years.
He retired in June 2009 from the Texas Comptroller’s Office after 27 years of service. He was an active member and elder in the Koenig Lane Christian Church.
He was a man who inspired and touched those around him, possessing a love of life and genuine kindness for all. He leaves behind a circle of friends and adoring family who are devastated by his untimely passing, but feel fortunate and blessed to have had him in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Clinton and Reva Sarah Maddox.
He is survived by his wife; two wonderful sons, Steven and Jeff; his twin sister, Cassie Townsend and husband, Tommy; nephews, Justin Townsend, and Trent Townsend and wife, Ann; niece, Sarah Blair Townsend; also nephew Chris and Samantha Barnes and family of Flower Mound; and other family members including Steve and Karen Harris and sister, Lisa, of Arlington, Jerry Grange and Joe Grange of White Deer, Margaret and Carl McAdams of Atoka, Okla., Mack Grange of Atoka, Okla., Linda and Travis Barber of Paris, Larry Maddox, Cecile Grange of White Deer, Tom and Coleen Maddox of Blossom, Mary Ann Harris of Tyler and Stan and Edna Maddox of Blossom.
