Lucy Ellen Shipp Slaton
CLARKSVILLE – Lucy Ellen Shipp Slaton, 99, of Clarksville passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at ETMC Clarksville.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Edgar Slaton, Rev. B.G. Bowden and Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial follows in Deport cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family receives friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
She was born March 21, 1910, in Moore, Okla., to Ewell and Della Moore Shipp. She was a member of Temple Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Slaton; daughter, Lola; son, Luther; and parents.
Survivors include her son, Rev. Edgar Slaton and wife, Charline, of Quitman; daughters, Jan McGuire and husband, Charlie, of Markham and Nancy Higgins and husband, W.F. “Babe,” of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 27 great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Higgins, Keith Higgins, Kelly Slaton, Brandon Bell, Pat McDonald and Charles Lynn McGuire.
