James Vernon Braden Harp
CLARKSVILLE — James Vernon Braden Harp, 77, of Bagwell passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at his residence.
Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Blanton Creek Cemetery with Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial follows in Blanton Creek Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Clarksville Funeral Home.
He was born June 30, 1932, in Bagwell to Rufus and Rosa Anderson Harp. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Valley Spreader Inc. in Brawley, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Harp; his son, James Allen Harp; daughter, Peggy Wilcox; two sisters, Gwendolyn and Mary Idalou; and brother, Rufus Harp.
Survivors include his son, Richard Johnson of Chicago, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Daphne Harp of Stratton, Maine; grandchildren, James Harp, Sheena Harp, Dannel Ellis, Eddy Ellis, Richard Wilcox, Amanda Johnson and Joshua Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are James Harp, Ronnie Harp, Howard “Chief” Harp, Vernon Harp, Tim Somerville, Dannel Ellis, Eddy Ellis and Alan Helberg.
