New hotels to host grand opening events

Published August 23, 2009

The city’s two newest hotels — Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Comfort Inn & Suites on N.E. Loop 286 celebrate a grand opening Wednesday, an event featuring local band Broadway Junction and 17 Paris restaurants participating in a free Taste of Paris.

Activities are to begin at 4 p.m Wednesday, with a Chamber of Commerce-sponsored ribbon cutting planned for 5 p.m. The public is urged to attend.

The Holiday Inn Nascar #29 is to be a featured attraction, according to hotel manager Gail Dority.

“Everybody seems to go wild about NASCAR, so we thought we would bring out our race car,” Dority said Friday. “In addition, new car dealers are to feature cars as well as our local motorcycle and all terrain vehicle dealerships.”

Tours are planned at both facilities with the Broadway Junction Band performing in the Holiday Inn Express Lobby. Taste of Paris and a wine tasting by Paris Vinyards is scheduled in a large meeting room at the Comfort Inn Express.

Youth from Big Brothers Big Sisters will be swimming in the Comfort Inn & Suites pool and the Paris Fire Department will be on hand to promote safety.

“We are just overwhelmed at the response we have received from the community in planning this event,” Dority said. “We want to give to the community and let everyone see what we have to offer.”

Door prizes will be offered including a flat screen television as well as certificates for restaurant meals. The Rub Club is going to be offering 10 massages and plans to give away several massage certificates as well,

“We just think this is going to be a fun community event,” Dority said.

Giving back to the community, the hotels will be making donations to United Way, the Firemen’s Benevolent Fund and to Coffee Crusade, which sends coffee to troops in the Middle East.
