Albert A. “Tootie” Anderson

Albert A. “Tootie” Anderson, 89, of Roxton passed away Monday, May 25, 2009, in Paris Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in Restland Cemetery in Roxton with Rev. James Barnes officiating. Roxton Masonic Lodge No. 543 is to conduct Masonic rites. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

He was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Roxton, a son of Albert and Amelia Fletcher Anderson. He was a longtime rancher and retired from Oliver Rubber Company in June of 1982. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in London, Germany, France and Corsica. He met Ralph Shipman, also from Roxton, while he was in Corsica. Shipman, being a pilot flew him over Corsica. He returned home on Thanksgiving Day in 1945. He was a member of Church of Christ and the Roxton Masonic Lodge No. 543, where he had been a member for 60 years.

On Dec. 25, 1945, he married Dorothy Moore. She preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1982. He married Thelma Stewart on March 21, 1986, in Annona.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Willie Johnson; brothers, Thomas “Chill” Anderson and George “Boose” Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Anderson; son, Larry Anderson of Dallas; stepsons, Jimmie Stewart and wife, Mary, of Allen, Lanny Stewart and wife, Kathy, of Simsboro, La.; former daughter-in-law, Linda Stewart; grandchildren, Rita and Lynn Jones of Honey Grove, Lisa and Kevin Broce of Allen, Darren and Shannon Stewart of Allen, and Glenn Stewart of Orlando, Fla; great- grandchildren, Joanna Broce, Marlana Broce, Evan Stewart, Macy Stewart and Seth Stewart; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wiley and Wava Mathena of Pasadena; several nieces and nephews; special neighbors, Denny and Debbie Huggins; and special nephew Carl and wife, Donna Steffey.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Crofford, John Barker, Ray Cox, Kenneth Bush, Roy Barker, Dennie Huggins and members of the Roxton Masonic Lodge No. 543.

Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Development Department, 22 Welbourn, Dallas, TX 75219.
