Homer Dean Scoggins

BOGATA — Homer Dean Scoggins, 79, of Lacey’s Springs, Ala., and formerly of Bogata, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, in Guntersville, Ala.

Graveside funeral services are to be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home of Bogata.

He was born April 14, 1930, in Red River County, the son of Homer Clayton and Mary Magadalene Furgerson Scoggins. He was a retired air conditioning technician and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Scott Scoggins.

He is survived by his six children, Patrick Scoggins and Michael Scoggins of Lacey’s Springs, Ala., Maryann Bledsoe of Edgewater, Fla., Ladonna Boatwright and Martha Benjamin of Arlington and Stephanie Scoggins of Austin; a brother, Harley Scoggins of Fort Worth; sister, Billie Lindsey of Bogata; former wife, Elizabeth Scoggins of Lacey Springs, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
