Newt H. Freelen
Newt H. Freelen, 78, of Blossom died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. David Dumas officiating. Burial follows in Smyrna Cemetery in Fannin County.
He was born July 26, 1931, in Blossom, a son of James J. and Ethel Lavine Jane Doss Freelen. He married Linda Carrol Moss in Bonham June 18, 1966. He was a carpenter and loved the outdoors, spending time with family, cook outs, gardening, deer hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by six brothers; one sister; three sons; one daughter; and a granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Carrol Freelen; children, Judy Reed of Windom, Sandra Sales of Pottsboro and Daryl Freelen of Lone Oak; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers James Freelen of Detroit and Kenneth Freelen of Alma, Alaska; and three sisters, Dorothy Jewel of Vandervort, Alaska, Mary Sue Brumbelow of Bagwell and Frankie Gurley of Memphis.
Pallbearers are Timothy Lair, Christopher Lair, Jake Phelps, Matthew Butler, Kason Freelen and Daryl Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Coldiron and Johnny Coldiron.
