While the Crosstown Showdown between Paris and North Lamar is the biggest game in the Red River Valley this week, it’s defintely not the only one, as key games are on tap in District 12-2A competition.
The Chisum Mustangs (4-2, 1-2) and Clarksville Tigers (3-3, 1-2) try to keep their playoff hopes alive when they square off tonight in Clarksville at New Century Club Field. Meanwhile, the Prairiland Patriots (6-0, 3-0) carry their perfect record into tonight’s game at Redwater (3-3, 1-3).
Clarksville, Chisum and Redwater are all locked in a four-way tie for fourth place behind the Patriots, Paul Pewitt (4-2, 3-0) and Hooks (3-3, 3-0). Hooks is at Paul Pewitt tonight, while the Rivercrest Rebels (0-3, 1-5) host DeKalb (0-3, 1-5) on homecoming night.
Chisum senior quarterback Jeremy Eddington became the first player in the Red River Valley to surpass 1,000 yards rushing as the Division I prospect enters tonight’s game with 1,034 yards on 101 carries (an impressive 10.24-yard-per carry average). He also leads the area in scoring with 110 points, including 14 rushing touchdowns.

Coach Don Hasley and his Mustangs enter tonight’s game after back-to-back district losses at Hooks and last week to visiting Paul Pewitt.
Coach Dewaski Davis and his Tigers lost at Redwater last week after shutting out Rivercrest, 26-0, a week earlier.
Coach Glen Schuelke and his Patriots opened district play with a 33-12 win against Clarksville and the Patriots haven’t let up, as they have scored-back-to-back shutouts at DeKalb (47-0) and last week at Rivercrest (47-0).
Patriot senior quarterback Payne Schuelke broke the school’s single-game passing record last week when he threw for 276 yards, completing 14 of 21 attempts. Seven of those passes were caught by senior receiver Tanner Connot, who had 135 receiving yards.
