The Paris Wildcats were the last team in the Red River Valley to tip of their basketball season, but they jumped out the gate firing on all cylinders as they cruised to a 79-58 victory over the visiting Greenville Lions Saturday night.
“I’m not sure you going to see a team look much better than that in their first game. We looked really good,” said Paris High coach Billy Mack Steed. “We had a lot of time in the gym before this game, but you still can’t make up for that first game.”
Three players scored in double figures led by Equettis Jenkins’ 19 points and eight rebounds and 16 points from Dominique Mitchell.
Senior guard Kendall King had a stellar all-around game, scoring 12 points, grabbing eight rebounds, blocking five shots, getting six steals and dishing out four assists.
Cedarius Hill grabbed 13 rebounds to go with four points, while Dylan Cathey had six points and four boards. Cory Battle scored eight points, had four assists and four steals, Tyric Williams had eight points and five rebounds, and Jamarius Milton scored four points and had four rebounds.
The Wildcats are back at home on Tuesday to host Idabel, Okla. They will then be competing in the Huntington Tournament beginning Thursday.
