Paris High School’s Department of Theater Arts takes to the boards tonight with a production of the perennially funny “You Can’t Take It With You,” by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.
If the Sycamore Family is mad, then the rest of the world is madder still. In every room of the Sycamore home, something wonderful and unusual is going on — radical politics in the kitchen, fireworks manufacturing in the basement, ballet dancing and oil painting side by side in the parlor.
Enter Tony Kirby, himself madly in love with young Alice Sycamore and more than ready to embrace her family’s eccentricities as well. But when his strict and straitlaced parents come to meet the family of this potential daughter-in-law, the elder Kirbys are shocked and Alice is forced to confront the possibility that she might not be the right wife for Tony.
Can Tony keep Alice from breaking off their engagement? Can his parents be brought to accept the Sycamores’ happy madness? Can Grandpa stay out of hot water with the dreaded IRS?
