June Zant
June Zant, 78, entered into eternal rest Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.
Services have been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13 at the College Church of Christ at 10 a.m. with Nolan Butler officiating. Burial is to follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Bright Holland Funeral Home.
The family is to receive friends anytime at June and Dudley’s home or at Bright Holland Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.
She was born Aug. 15, 1931, to Edd and Hattie Thompson Gill in Vealmoor. She married Dudley Dwain Zant Sept. 15, 1949, in Ackerly. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with a family celebration. They were blessed with four children, Rick and wife, Lynda Zant, Craig Zant, Pam Fry and husband, Michael, and Barbara Jeneane Zant, all of the Paris area. Along with her husband, they all survive her. They have 13 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
She taught Bible classes for many years and loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made each of them feel special and attended as many events as she possibly could.
She and her husband farmed near Lubbock for many years before moving south of Paris in the early ‘70s. Dudley continued to farm while June worked for Campbell Soup, retiring in 1997. She had many lifelong friends there that she enjoyed.
She loved to cook and her specialties were hot rolls and chocolate chip cookies. She rarely let her cookie jars be empty. She loved sports, especially the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. She and Dudley were members of the College Church of Christ where she enjoyed helping other ladies of the church stuff toys for children in local hospitals. She loved God above all else and that was evident in her words and actions. She did not have the health she, her family and friends desired in the last few years, but when she felt good you could find her doing for others. She made a big difference in the lives of many and will long be remembered for her good deeds.
The family appreciated Millennium Home Care, especially Freda Green and Jennifer Palmer, for helping her be able to live her last few years at home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Irwin Matthews and Ethllynn Zant; and two brothers, Eddie Gill Jr. and Dalton Gill.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Dean Cuthbertson; her family, both physically and spiritually; and many friends.
Her children were involved in missions, so if desired, the family requests memorials be made to The College Church of Christ, 1030 24th S.E., Paris, TX 75460, for future mission efforts.
