Roger P. Durant
Roger P. Durant, 73, of Paris passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Paris Regional Medical Center, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into its care.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Interment follows in Evergreen Cemetery. A Rosary service is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel followed by a family visitation.
He was born April 6, 1936, in Texarkana, Ark., to Ofeleo Durant and Lupe Gonzalez Durant. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State University. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1993 from the TABC after 28 years of service. According to his family, he was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Chris Durant.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy DeLisle Durant, of Paris; one son, Russell Durant of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Cindy Sikes of Paris, Suzanne Durant of Sulphur Springs and Marie Williams and husband, Steve, of Daingerfield; six grandchildren, Michael Carlow of Germany, Randi Ruthart of Sulphur Springs, Stephen Sikes and Kimberly Sikes of Paris, Luann Gresham of Daingerfield and Robert Johnson of Texarkana; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ray Durant of Mount Pleasant and Arthur Durant of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Casketbearers will be Roger Green, Ray Spencer, Mike Beezley, Billy Sinclair, Carol Wilson and Jackie Marshall.
If desired, the family requests memorials be made to The American Cancer Society, American Kidney Foundation or The American Diabetes Association.
