Some questions for those who oppose Obama

Published October 7, 2009

I will start this column with some questions.

What happened 10 years ago when the Bush administration was handed a budget surplus? Where was everyone when the United States economy started going down hill six years ago and why did you who complain about the Obama administration not start complaining then? Why did you put the Bush administration back in office?

Why was their no complaining when we did not continue to look for Osama bin Laden and finish the war in Afghanistan? Why was there no complaining when we went to war in Iraq and we were suppose to be out in a month, and six years later we are still there?

Why did you not complain about health care and health insurance?

Why did you buy a house, car, boat, motorcycle and all the other frills you could not afford? Why do you need five or more credit cards? Why are you buying cell phones and all the other gadgets for your children, which you cannot afford?

Economist have been saying for some time that this country was going into a deep recession. I would say this is as close to a depression as we have ever come since the 1930s. When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt took office in 1933, the United States was in a disastrous depression. People had no jobs, businesses were closing, banks were going broke and people were losing their homes. President Roosevelt and his administration had to come up with some innovate ideals to save this country and they did. He also had a world war in Europe and Japan looming on the horizon.

Well, President Barack Obama and his administration are almost in the same fix as President Roosevelt and his administration. The difference is President Roosevelt had the luxury of very little technology. He did not have to listen to all the Monday morning quarterbacks. I am sure he was criticized about too much government and generations in the future would be paying for the changes that had to be made to save this country.

I am sure he was treated by many with the same disrespect as President Obama. I cannot believe the name calling.

I did not like the policies of the Bush administration, but I always respected President Bush because he was the president of the United States.

President Obama never said he was a miracle worker. He said we will have to change the way we are doing things. I agree with him. When this country gets in trouble — and it was the policies of the Bush Administration that got us in trouble — it is the job of the federal government to get us out of trouble. That is what President Obama is trying to do. He said it would take all us helping and it was not going to happen overnight. I am confident it is going to happen. He has been in office a mere 10 months.

Give him the same chance you gave President Bush.
