Willie Wayne ‘Jack’ Farris
DEPORT — Willie Wayne “Jack” Farris, 80, of Detroit died Sunday, Nov. 22 at his home.
Wood Funeral Home conducted cremation arrangements.
The family is to host a memorial service at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Victorious Life Church, 1450 25th St. N.E.
He was born April 14, 1929, in Blossom, a son of Henry Washington and Mary Ellen Brewer Farris. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Buck and U.S.S. Ozbourn, both destroyers, as a BTFN Fireman. He was known as a local musician, mastering dobro and double-neck steel guitars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary; brothers, Starling, Euel, Bud, Thad and Red; and sisters, Annie, Agnes and Ola.
He is survived by one sister, Susie Endel of Benbrook; his children and their spouses, Lloyd and wife, Becky, of Paris, Mary Gillham and husband, Jim, of Farris, Okla., Eddie and wife, Carmen, of Arthur City, Darrell and wife, Pam, of Lindale and Jeannie Lane of Ardmore, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
