Mt. Zion UMC's breast cancer awareness event

Mount Zion United Methodist Church celebrates breast cancer awareness month by hosting a Pink Ribbon Campaign this Sunday. A special service is slated for 3 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Enette, associate pastor of Bon Air Baptist Church of Dallas, as guest speaker. Reverend Enette is a 5 1/2 year breast cancer survivor and will share his story.

Reverend Enette was the survivor speaker for Lamar County’s 2009 Relay for Life.

Sister’s Network Inc., the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, Circle of Promise, The Bridge, Susan G. Komen and WAWELA will be represented and have information available.  Survivors will be able to register for Lamar County’s annual Relay for Life. 

All attendees are encouraged to wear pink and a moment of recognition for survivors as well as a memoriam for the loss of loved ones to the disease is to be held. 

Each Sunday, Mount Zion UMC conducts regular services beginning with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. Bible Study is conducted on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and intercessory prayer is held at noon on Mondays and Thursdays.

Calvary BC notes 65th anniversary

Calvary Baptist Church of Cooper celebrates its 65th anniversary Sunday, and the church invites all its friends to come to a homecoming.

This Sunday is High Attendance Sunday. Sunday school meets at 9:45 a.m., followed by worship services at 10:50 a.m. Evening worship service begins at 6 p.m. Both services that day are to be lead by the church’s pastor, Dr. Calvin Turnage.

The celebration continues with revival services at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 26-28. Dr. Charles Payne, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne, leads the services each evening.
