David Wayne Knighton, Jr.
STAMPS, Ark. – David Wayne Knighton, Jr., of Buckner, Ark., passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the First Baptist Church in Stamps, Ark., with Bro. Glen Shults and Dr. Martin “Bud” Gilliland officiating. Burial is to be in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
Visitation is to be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral chapel in Stamps.
He was born Sept. 10, 1936. He was an electrician and an avid horseman. He was a member of the South Central Arkansas Horse Show Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stamps for many years. He attended the Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Hope.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Wilson Knighton Sr., and Lois Helen Knighton; nephew, Charles Dean Knighton; and aunt, Melba Odom.
He is survived by six daughters, Sheree Knighton-Vickers of Lewisville, Ark., Lisa Taylor and husband, Bryan, of Paris, Kristi Morrow and husband, Mike, of Brookston, Dana McDonald and husband, Rusty, of Hope, Ark., Kayla Knighton of Hope and Lacy Knighton of Hope; two brothers; Larry Knighton and wife, Janice, of Shreveport, La., and Johnny Knighton and wife, Linda, of Hope; seven grandchildren, Gary Vickers and wife, DJ, of El Paso, Jordan Taylor of Paris, Amanda Vickers of Lewisville, Ark., Mason Morrow of Brookston, Rhealey McDonald of Hope, Carson McMullan of Hope and Hayes Jarvis of Hope; three great-grandchildren, Carly Foster of Lewisville, Ark., Taylor Vickers and Chanellor Vickers, both of El Paso; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
If desired, contributions may be sent to his favorite charity, “The Spring Hill Community Children’s Christmas Fund.” The account is to be set up at First National Bank in Lewisville.
