Published August 29, 2009

More than 650 people took part in grand opening ceremonies Wednesday for Paris’s two newest hotels —The Holiday Inn Express and Comfort Inn and Suites.

Property owner Mike Patel, chief executive officer of Newcrest, owner of the new hotels, praised the community for participation in what he termed “the most impressive grand opening he has witnessed at any of his properties,” including the ones in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Patel said he is proud to be a part of a community that is so suppportive of local businesses and looks forward to making an economic contribution to the area.

Patel presented a donation to the Firemen Benevolent Fund, Coffee Crusades and the United Way during ceremonies that included a Lamar County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.

Guests were treated to site tours of the hotels and their amenities as well as to a “Taste of Paris” provided by 20 local restaurants and The Paris Winery. Local car and motorcycle dealerships had vehicles on display and the Holiday Inn NASCAR #29 was on display. Paris Fire Department presented a safety program and brought two of its fire trucks. Entertainment was provided by Broadway Junction Band.

Kim Ledbetter serves as general manager of the properties. Carol O’Brien is manager of the Comfort Inn and Suites and Gail Dority is director of sales for both properties.
