Winnie Mattie Wootten Walker

CLARKSVILLE — Winnie Mattie Wootten Walker, 94, of Clarksville passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Regency Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Graveside services were to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. James Brown officiating under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

She was born in Annona to Horace Greeley and Jo Ruka Bishop Wootten. She and her husband owned and operated Walkers store in Clarksville. She was a member of the McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1933, was an honorary member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, member of the New Century Club and was very active in many civic organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Walker; and a brother, H.G. Wootten.

Survivors include her two sons, Jim Walker and wife, Kahne, of Hawkins and Greeley Walker of New York, NY.

Memorials may be made in her name to Serenity Hospice, 5604 Summerhill Rd., Suite 3, Texarkana, Texas, 75503.
