Criticism is OK

Published September 21, 2009

Since my latest article received a lot of criticism, it obviously had some merit.

Sometimes the truth will touch a few nerves and generate some interesting comments. Let me assure you that I will not be intimidated into silence by any individual or group. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I respect that fact. My comments are my own and I do not solicit advice from anyone as to what my articles contain.

I am not offended by opposition to my comments and respect the opinions of others. I am always willing to agree to disagree. My opinions are based on actual experiences in life and nothing more. The fact that the federal government wants to control our daily activities is very disturbing to me and should be to all Americans.

If you do not feel this threat, you apparently are not paying attention to what is happening daily. For some sad reason The Paris News has chosen to remain silent about some very important issues. If they do report on some national event, it is usually hidden on page 5 of the publication and should have been front page news.

The United States of America is facing some of the most critical times in our history. Our country is in very deep financial trouble and that debt is increasing every day. The wasteful spending has to stop in order for us to survive.

It is apparent that the current administration intends to bankrupt the United States. The trend was set by former president George W. Bush when he started the bailouts, and I did not agree with his decision. President Obama has chosen the same path and I disagree with that also.

How does anyone think that the federal government can manage health care? They have done a miserable job with Social Security and Medicare. The president claims his health care proposal can be paid for by eliminating the fraud and waste in the Medicare system. If these problems are known to exist, why they were not corrected upon discovery is puzzling.

I have lost faith in the federal government and do not trust it with my future and neither should you. Information is readily available via the Internet concerning nationalized health care in other countries. I do not rely on talk radio or Fox News to be informed on such issues. There are many sources that provide information about these medical services. Many of the testimonies of those who are victims of such systems are very frightening. However, you will not hear these things reported by our major newspapers or broadcasting stations.

I make no apologies to anyone who is offended by my comments, but at the same time I will respect your right to disagree.
